The Glenda D. Jefferson Foundation

Glenda Dizzley Jefferson, a native of Bishopville SC. Received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education from Benedict College, Columbia, SC. During her 30 plus years tenure as an educator in Lee County and Anderson School District #2. She taught 2nd grade at Dennis Primary and 5th-8th grade at Geer Gantt High School and Honea Path Middle School respectively. Glenda was an active member of Mount Zion Baptist Church in Belton, SC, where she served as Sunbeam Leader, Sunday School teacher, Missionary President and a Deaconess. In 2018, she was awarded Missionary Woman of the Year. She organized and co-chaired Mt. Zion After-School Program. She loved children and always wanted them to do well. She was a highly motivated, enthusiastic and dedicated educator who wanted all children to be successful learners and leaders.

She was a Charter Member of the Anderson, SC Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Inc. She served as President, Vice President, Co-Chairperson and Age Group Chair. She was a member of the Benedict Alumni Club a member of the Anderson County Retired Teacher Association, Unit II. She worked with the Blue Ridge Council of Scouting for twenty plus years. She was a Cub Scout Leader, and Commissioner and received The District Merit Leader Award. She was also the recipient of the Silver Beaver Award (the highest level for an adult).

She was affectionately known as Momma, MomMom, Grandma, MaGlenda, Aunt Glenda and Glenda to so many.

Her legacy continues through her loving husband, Walter Lee Jefferson, her children, Latondra (Les) Lathon, Datrick (Tomika) Jefferson, and Tammy Harkness. Six grandchildren, Jonathan, Faith, Jazmine, Justin, Zyen and Datrick (DJ). Two great-grandchildren, Johnathan Joseph Galloway and Josiah Matthew Harkness.
Our mother loved all the children and her community. We are forever grateful to start this foundation in her memory and the legacy she built. We will continue to create memories in her honor.
